He
has shown you, O man, what is good and what the Lord requires
of you…to
do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your
God.
How many Christ followers take
seriously the verse on the right? Do we ever really pause
to consider how we are to tend and care for the earth? There
may be wisdom to be learned from reflecting on the following
Native American quote:
Humankind has not woven the web of life.
We are but one thread in it.
Whatever we do to the web,
we do to ourselves.
– Chief Seattle
The Lord God placed man in
the Garden of Eden to tend and care for it…Gen
2:15
Ponder these things:
What attitude do you have toward your
place in this web of life? Do
you feel that humans are but one thread in it….or the creators/dominators
of it?
In what ways have you seen your own actions
affecting the environment around you? Have you cared for
the web in these actions or destroyed a portion of it?
Do you believe God desires for Christ followers to continue to
tend and care for this place?
In your own sphere of influence, what can you
be responsible for with regards to caring for this earth?
