What's with the questions?

Have you ever wanted to go deeper with someone else spiritually, but you had no idea what to ask them?  Or maybe you have wanted someone to ask you about your spiritual journey but it felt awkward and forced?  These Seasons of Questions arise out of these dilemmas.

Without boring you with too many details (email me if you want the details)…here’s the short answer to What’s with all the Questions?

We are starved for deep… probing…nurturing spiritual questions and conversation.
These Seasons of Questions are designed to help people take a deeper look at what is inside of them and then share that deep with others.

I resonate with David Benner’s idea that deep knowing of God comes from deep knowing of self and vice versa.  I also believe that we come to know ourselves and our God better in conversation with others.

So, ask yourself some questions….something happens in the midst of this wondering and talking…try it.

FYI:  Each of the Seasons builds off of the one before it.

(It’s exactly like when you rent seasons of 24 on DVD.  Each season of 24 is interesting in and of itself.  However, when you start with season one of 24 and keep on watching, you get why Jack Bauer is in hiding at the beginning of Season 5….you have the background of the shooting at the Chinese consulate, him faking his death and so on.  My point is, the Seasons build off of one another.  So consider doing them in order. …this is not mandatory, but helpful)

FYI #2:  The Questions are stupid if you blow through them with little thought.

Basically, you will get out as much as you put in.  How helpful these questions are in your spiritual journey is completely up to you.

FYI #3:  Don’t complain about your group being fake if you are being fake.

Many students get into these questions and conversations and then whine about how superficial everyone is.  How does that saying go…don’t try to pull out a sliver in someone else’s eye when you’ve got a plank in your own?

FYI #4: Stop doing the questions if your soul is not ready.

If the questions become too difficult, if there is too much stirring within, STOP. Come back to the questions in a few months (or even years) when you are emotionally ready for them. Also, find a counselor or Spiritual Director to help you process why the questions were too much for you right now. Please don’t use the site to go where you are not ready to go.
